Jodhpur, Rajasthan : Under the joint aegis of the Rajasthan Department of Tourism and the District Administration, Jodhpur, the city’s 568th Foundation Day was celebrated on Tuesday with great joy and cultural grandeur. On the occasion of the Foundation Day, various cultural and tourism-related activities were organized across the city, in which local citizens, tourists, and public representatives participated enthusiastically.
Mr. Bhanu Pratap, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism, stated that the Foundation Day celebrations commenced in the morning with a program held at the Clock Tower complex, which was flagged off by the City MLA, Mr. Atul Bhansali. A special musical performance presented by the band of the Camel Frontier BSF, Jodhpur, captivated both the general public and tourists, infusing the entire area with a festive atmosphere.
He further informed that, subsequently, the Department of Tourism, Jodhpur, accorded a traditional welcome to visiting domestic and international tourists at Mehrangarh Fort by garlanding them. During this event, folk artists delivered colorful performances showcasing Rajasthan’s rich folk culture and traditions—performances that were highly appreciated by the tourists.
Dr. Sarita Phiroda, Joint Director of the Department of Tourism, noted that the evening festivities included a grand ‘Deepotsav’ (Festival of Lights) organized at Toorji Ka Jhalra. The historic site was brilliantly illuminated by an enchanting display of decorative lamps. During the program, folk artists presented captivating performances of folk dance and music, lending a distinct cultural dignity to the Foundation Day celebrations.
Dr. Sarita Phiroda added that the decorative lighting installed on the eve of the Foundation Day across the city’s major historical monuments, public spaces, and prominent intersections also drew the attention of citizens and tourists, giving the entire city a truly festive appearance.
