Sikar News: 5000 kg of banned plastic seized

Sikar, Rajasthan : To make the city free of banned plastic, the district administration took decisive action on Tuesday, conducting a major raid on a large warehouse near the KIA showroom. As part of the Plastic Environment Protection Campaign and Mission Life, a joint team from the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, Sikar, and the Municipal Council, Sikar, conducted intensive inspections of warehouses and shops.

During the operation, 5,000 kilograms of banned plastic bags and single-use plastic, which were being stored and sold in violation of regulations, were seized. The merchants found guilty were fined ₹50,000.

This action, in accordance with the state government’s mandate, was conducted under the leadership of District Collector Ashish Modi and under the guidance of the Pollution Control Board’s regional officer, Savita.

Municipal Council Commissioner Shashikant Sharma stated that, as directed by the state government and the district administration, the joint team of the Municipal Council and the Pollution Control Board are regularly conducting inspections and taking action.

This campaign will continue with even greater vigor in the future. Commissioner Sharma appealed to merchants to stop using banned single-use plastic and to the public to use cloth, jute, and other environmentally friendly bags, stressing that the participation of all citizens is essential in building a clean, beautiful, and environmentally friendly Sikar.

Junior Engineer Surendra Godara, Enforcement Team, Assistant Staff Suresh Mitharwal, Junior Environmental Engineer Ojaswa Kadwasra, Information Assistant Kuldeep, along with officials and employees of the Board and Municipal Council participated in the campaign.

The administration clarified that no leniency will be given to the use, storage, and distribution of banned plastic. Such campaigns will continue to make the city plastic-free. The public was also urged to use cloth and other environmentally friendly bags for the benefit of the environment.
