Karauli, Rajasthan : Today marked the 15th day of the ongoing farmers’ protest in Khandip village. Farmers from the command area are demanding the release of water from the Panchana Dam into the canals of the command area, as ordered by the Rajasthan High Court. Farmers, women, youth, and Panch-Patels from various villages are arriving at the protest site daily to support the movement.

Addressing the farmers from the protest site’s stage, MLA Ramkesh Meena said that this is a fight between justice and injustice. He said that the farmers have tried at every level to demand justice from the government, but despite 15 days of the protest, the government has not taken any positive initiative. He alleged that the government is underestimating the farmers of the command area and ignoring their legitimate demands.

The MLA said that the farmers only want to comply with the court order. They are not seeking any financial assistance from the government, but are demanding their share of water. He said that the demands of farmers from 360 villages were also raised at the Mahapanchayat held at Devlen Mor, and he had no objection to the government providing water to all areas.

He also said that the state Home Minister recently visited Kodia village, a few kilometers away from the protest site, but did not consider it necessary to meet with the farmers. This has caused disappointment among the farmers. The MLA said that the farmers will not back down from any attempts to suppress or intimidate them and will continue their struggle for their rights.

The protest is receiving continued support from farmers in both command and uncommanded areas. Former Minister Mrs. Golma Devi also reached the protest site today in support of the farmers. Addressing the farmers, she said that the struggle will continue until water is released from the Panchana Dam into the canals. She said that the farmers need not be afraid of the government or the administration and that she herself is ready to sit on the protest with the farmers.

Former Minister Golma Devi stated that the government should comply with the High Court order and provide water to the farmers of the command area. “I will continue to sit on protest with all of you until water flows into the canals,” she said. During her address, Golma Devi repeatedly encouraged the farmers by saying, “The water should be released, the water should be released.”

MLA Ramkesh Meena thanked Mrs. Golma Devi for reaching the protest site in support of the farmers and urged her to send Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena to the protest site soon to further strengthen the farmers’ morale and pressure the government for positive action.Food, drinking water, sanitation, and other arrangements are being managed smoothly at the protest site. The Panchana Command Area Development Struggle Committee has assigned village-wise responsibilities. From June 19th to June 20th, villagers from Kunsay, Maidi, Phulwara, and Khodpura successfully managed all the arrangements at the protest site.

Farmers from these villages arrived at the protest site in large numbers, riding tractor-trolleys and private vehicles, dancing and singing to the tunes of DJ music. The ongoing movement in Khandip village consistently demonstrates the unity, organization, and collective participation of farmers and the general public.
