Karauli, Rajasthan : As directed by the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, Jaipur, and under the guidance of the Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Karauli, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority and Additional District and Sessions Judge, Pratap Singh Meena, conducted a surprise inspection of the old age home run by the Indira Gandhi Mahila Bal Vikas Seva Sansthan, Shri Mahavirji, located in Todabhim, on Monday.

During the inspection, only three employees were found present at the old age home. When the Secretary directed the staff and senior citizen attendance registers, the administrator was unable to provide them. At the time of the inspection, 15 senior citizens (11 men and 4 women) were found residing in the old age home. Upon inquiring about the remaining senior citizens, the administrator stated that two senior citizens had gone to the hospital, while information regarding one senior citizen was unavailable. However, no mention of them was found in the movement register.

During the inspection, it was also found that a separate attendance register for senior citizens was not available. Instead, online attendance records were submitted, which listed the names of approximately 40 to 45 senior citizens. The movement register was also not updated, with no entries for June 27th, 28th, and 29th. Despite requests from staff to provide other records and registers, none were produced. When asked for the visiting register to record inspection observations, the administrator stated that it was unavailable.

During the inspection, the senior citizens were eating. When asked about the food arrangements, they stated that they were provided meals at the scheduled time and according to the menu.

When the Secretary inspected the first aid kit, it was found to be in disarray, with most of the medicines in it past their expiration date. Furthermore, the flour and edible oil stored in the home lacked expiration dates, and a fire extinguisher was not available on the premises. However, the condition of the home’s toilets was found to be satisfactory.

After the inspection, Secretary Pratap Singh Meena took all the deficiencies found seriously and provided necessary guidelines to the administrator and directed him to ensure regular maintenance of all records and immediate improvement in security and health related arrangements.

On this occasion, Personal Assistant of District Legal Services Authority Manvendra Singh and Assistant Staff Surendra Verma were also present.
