
Sapotra: Dalit family attacked while trying to take possession of their own land
Sapotra, Karauli : A Dalit family in Jirauta village, under the Sapotra police station area of Karauli district, has alleged that they were attacked by powerful people while trying to take possession of their land. The victims claim that despite a court order, they are unable to obtain rights to their land and are forced to live in fear.
According to the victims, Ramesh Chand, Jai Prakash, and Akash, the Bairwa family, including their legal land holding number 1399, was illegally encroached upon. On May 1, 2026, the Tehsildar Court ordered the illegal occupation of the land and the return of the land to the victim family.

According to the victims, on June 22, 2026, at around 12 noon, they arrived at their land with government officials—Patwari Lalit Bansal and Girdawar Banti Lal Meena. It is alleged that Hanuman Meena, Prithvi Meena, Rishiraj Meena, and others attacked them with sticks and axes. The family alleges that Akash was hit on the head with an axe and the women in the family were also assaulted. Following the incident, the victims filed an FIR number 190/2026 at the Sapotra police station.
The victim’s family alleges that despite the case being registered, the accused are roaming freely and are constantly being threatened. Family member Rinku Bairwa has also alleged receiving death threats over the phone.
The victims say that the accused are allegedly pressuring them by saying that no matter which official they approach, nothing will happen to them.
The victim’s family has demanded that the district administration and police officials provide security, arrest the accused, and take strict action after conducting a fair investigation.
