Jaipur, Rajasthan : Under the initiative of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Rajasthan is rapidly progressing towards becoming TB-free. The state government is fully committed to fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge of a “TB-free India.” Rajasthan has achieved remarkable success in the “TB-Free India Campaign – a 100-day special campaign” launched in this direction. Launched on March 24th this year, the campaign has screened approximately 1.9 million individuals in the state in just two months.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma stated that, under the vision of “Niramay Rajasthan,” the state government is prioritizing widespread screening, early diagnosis, public awareness, nutritional support, and community participation to eradicate the serious disease TB. By providing health services with public participation, technology, and sensitivity, we will win this battle against TB.
Campaign in 11,000 villages, 5,000 camps conducted so far, over 1.6 million X-rays
Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar stated that a special campaign has been conducted in 11,328 high-risk villages and wards across the state since March 24th, yielding positive results. Under the campaign, nearly 5,000 Ayushman Arogya camps have been organized so far, screening over 18.93 lakh individuals for TB. To ensure timely and accurate diagnosis, 16.51 lakh chest X-rays and over 1.41 lakh NAAT tests were conducted.

Over 32,000 new patients identified
He reported that a total of 32,102 new TB patients were identified during the campaign through active case finding activities. These include 10,457 asymptomatic patients. He stated that this achievement reflects the proactive and scientific approach of the Health Department. To provide healthcare services to vulnerable and high-risk populations, more and more individuals are being screened using X-rays and NAT machines.
Testing for over 12,000 beneficiaries
Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, stated that to ensure quality and need-based treatment, over 16,500 out of over 32,000 eligible patients were assessed under Differentiated TB Care, representing a 51% achievement. She added that 12,535 individuals were initiated on TPT under TB Preventive Treatment (TPT) to prevent TB infection.
83% achievement in distribution of nutrition kits
She explained that nutrition support is crucial in the treatment of TB patients. Under the Nutrition Support Program, launched with this objective, nutrition kits have been distributed to approximately 38,000 beneficiaries out of approximately 46,000 consented TB patients since January 1, 2026, representing an 83% achievement.
He reported that under the Nikshay Mitra initiative, 2,000 new Nikshay Mitras were registered during the campaign period, and with community support, approximately 34,000 food baskets were distributed to TB patients. He stated that this is an excellent example of the shared responsibility and sensitivity of society and the government.
Special focus on public awareness, more TB patients notified than the target in 2025
Director of Public Health, Dr. Ravi Prakash Sharma, stated that special focus is being placed on public participation and awareness for TB elimination. The campaign has been transformed into a mass movement. Under this initiative, 7,500 school-level and 1,363 college-level activities were organized across the state.
Nearly 1,000 My Bharat volunteers and over 7,000 public representatives actively participated. Dr. Sharma reported that Rajasthan has achieved 102 percent of its target by notifying a total of 1.63 lakh TB patients in 2025. Also, 6,547 Gram Panchayats of the state have been declared TB free, which is a proud achievement for the state.
